Chiang Mai University Launches Beijing Liaison Center to Strengthen Thai-Chinese Partnership in Education and Innovation
23 April 2026
Corporate Communication and Alumni Relations Center (CCARC)
A new strategic hub in Chaoyang District positions CMU as a leading bridge between Thailand and China in human capital development and regional innovation
BEIJING, CHINA – April 10, 2026 – Chiang Mai University (CMU) has taken a decisive step in advancing its regional academic leadership with the official inauguration of the Chiang Mai University Liaison Center in Beijing. Situated in the Chaoyang District, the center is designed to serve as a strategic hub for seamless and sustainable collaboration in education, research, and innovation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China.
Prof. Dr. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, President of Chiang Mai University, articulated the vision underpinning this milestone: the Liaison Center embodies CMU’s unwavering commitment to cultivating human potential across Asia. In collaboration with Chelove International Education Group Co., Ltd., the center will advance academic programs, professional skill development, and joint research initiatives tailored to the priorities of both nations. CMU has set an ambitious target of engaging more than 1,000 Chinese students and network participants in educational and innovation exchange within the next five years—fostering a generation of talent unbounded by borders.
The opening ceremony brought together distinguished representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), partner institutions, and leading Chinese organisations. The occasion reflects the deep-rooted “Thailand and China: One Family” spirit and aligns with the principles of the Belt and Road Initiative, which promotes a shared future built on the exchange of knowledge, culture, and modern technology.
Beyond its role as a gateway for academic cooperation, the Liaison Center will serve as a vibrant space for cultural and linguistic exchange—a foundation essential to building lasting mutual understanding. CMU looks forward to presenting its world-class international programs to Chinese students, inviting them to co-create the innovations that will shape the region’s future.
This strategic presence in Beijing stands as a testament to Chiang Mai University’s dedication to growing alongside its Chinese partners—and to their shared ambition of establishing Asia as a preeminent global centre for learning and world-class innovation.
