Environmental Science Graduate Student Wins Gold Medal Award for SapoPure: An Odor Neutralizer Made from Rain Tree Pods for Use in Animal Shelters

Mr. Boriwut Jiramongkhonrat, a Master’s student in Environmental Science at the Faculty of Science, won the Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Research in Environment at the Thailand Research Expo 2026. Held under the theme ‘Research Synergy: Power of Research for Thailand’s Sustainable Economy and Society’, the expo took place from June 22–26, 2026 at Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld. It was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and research networks nationwide.
The award-winning research, titled ‘SapoPure: Integrated saponin extraction from rain tree pods for odor neutralizing products in animal shelters’, focuses on adding value to agricultural waste by extracting saponins from rain tree pods to develop an effective, environmentally friendly odor neutralizer. The innovation supports sustainable livestock farming while helping to improve environmental conditions and the quality of life in surrounding communities. The research was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Wan Wiriya.
