CMU and IMED Laboratory Sign Technology Licensing Agreement for Monoclonal Antibody Production

The Research Administration Office, in collaboration with the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, held a signing ceremony for a Technology Licensing Agreement covering the use of the Hybridoma Cell Line Clone PB1 and the transfer of knowledge and technology for monoclonal antibody production and colloidal gold preparation between Chiang Mai University and IMED Laboratory Co., Ltd.

The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, M.D., Ph.D., President of Chiang Mai University, who signed on behalf of the university and granted the company rights to use the technology. Mr. Phon Phalalikit, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Peerapat Phalalikit, Managing Director of IMED Laboratory Co., Ltd., signed on behalf of the company.

Also attending the ceremony as witnesses were Assoc. Prof. Winita Punyodom, Ph.D., Vice President of Chiang Mai University; Prof. Sakorn Pornprasert, Ph.D., Assistant to the President; Associate Professor Dr. Chadarat Ampasavate, Deputy Director of the Research Administration Office; executives from the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences; and the research team led by Emeritus Prof. Dr. Watchara Kasinrerk and Professor Dr. Chatchai Tayapiwatana, together with relevant personnel.

The ceremony was held at the 1st Floor Conference Room, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, on 6 October 2026.

The licensed technology was developed through research by Emeritus Prof. Dr. Watchara Kasinrerk and Professor Dr. Chatchai Tayapiwatana at the Center for Development of Immunodiagnostic Test Innovations, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University. The technology represents important knowledge for the development and production of immunodiagnostic test kits for patients with thalassemia and has strong potential for further development into commercially viable products, facilitating the practical application and commercialization of university research.
