ICDI Served as a Co-Host and Featured Faculty Speakers at the international seminar "Modern Finance and Financial Inclusion in Southeast Asia"

The International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, was honored to serve as a co-host of the international seminar “Modern Finance and Financial Inclusion in Southeast Asia: Universities United for the First Time” on 4 April 2026 at the 90th Anniversary Building, 15th Floor, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

This event was organized through the collaboration of multiple partners, including the International College, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, Bitcoin Learning Center Chiang Mai, Gemini Blockchain, orbix Digital Asset Exchange, tether, BitToon, Right Shift, and BOB Space. The seminar provided a valuable platform for academics, industry experts, and practitioners to exchange knowledge and perspectives on the future of money, financial systems, and digital assets in Southeast Asia.

During the seminar, participants explored key developments in the evolution of financial systems, from traditional finance to Bitcoin and emerging digital asset technologies. Major topics included digital payments, sound money, financial instability, Bitcoin, stablecoins, energy, and career opportunities within the digital asset ecosystem.

On this occasion, three ICDI faculty members were invited to serve as speakers at the seminar:
- Dr. Nathapon Udomlertsakul led the Bitcoin 101 Workshop, building foundational knowledge and practical understanding of Bitcoin.
- Dr. Nuttaphat Sukchitt delivered a lecture on the history of world reserve currencies.
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak joined the panel discussion on “Bitcoin Mining and Energy Opportunities in Southeast Asia.”

The seminar also featured interactive and hands-on learning activities, including the Age of Bitcoin Board Game and Lightning Market on the 15th Floor, as well as a workshop session on the 6th Floor. These activities helped enhance participants’ understanding of the practical applications of financial technology and digital financial systems in real-world contexts.

This seminar reflected the importance of collaboration among educational institutions and partner organizations in creating a meaningful platform for dialogue and learning on finance, innovation, and financial inclusion in the region. ICDI was proud to support and contribute to this international academic forum.
