4 August 2026
International College of Digital Innovation
On 31 July 2026, the research team for the project "Review and Analysis of Data for the Study on Domestic and Regional Rail Network Connectivity," commissioned by the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization) (RTRDA), conducted stakeholder consultations at Yala City Municipality as part of its study on rail freight connectivity within the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC). The team was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, faculty member of the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, and former President of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (Project Advisor), together with Ms. Suppara Sekacharn, former Thai Commercial Attach? and former Director of the Thai Trade Center in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China (Researcher), and Ms. She Bibi, an expert in the Chinese economy and financial technology (Researcher).
The delegation met with Mr. Yusin Jintapakorn, Deputy Mayor of Yala City Municipality, along with representatives from government agencies in Yala Province and representatives from the People's Republic of China who participated online. Discussions focused on the region's logistics potential, agricultural marketing and exports, and strategies for strengthening freight transportation in line with the development needs of Yala and Thailand's southern border provinces.
Representatives from the Yala Provincial Agriculture Office, Yala Provincial Commercial Office, Office of Agricultural Research and Development Region 8 (Songkhla), Yala Agricultural Research and Development Center, as well as local businesses including AJ Fruit Intertrade Co., Ltd. and Ban Batu Pute Community Enterprise, also shared recommendations on enhancing agricultural product standards, improving logistics systems, and expanding export opportunities in international markets. The insights gathered will contribute to the research and the development of policy recommendations to strengthen Thailand's domestic and regional rail network connectivity while enhancing logistics efficiency, agricultural exports, and the country's long-term competitiveness.
