ICDI, Chiang Mai University, Hosts DIFT 2026-2 Conference on “Quantitative Finance in the Age of Digital Innovation”

The International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, hosted the Digital Innovation and Financial Technology Conference (DIFT) 2026-2 on Saturday, 10 October 2026, under the theme “Quantitative Finance in the Age of Digital Innovation.” The conference brought together students, faculty members, and international scholars to exchange knowledge and insights on digital innovation and financial technology.

The event was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. PitipongYodmongkol, Vice President of Chiang Mai University and Acting Dean of the International College of Digital Innovation. The opening session was followed by a special lecture delivered by Dr. Pasin Marupanthorn, a lecturer in Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, Maejo University, and Vice President of the Thai Quantitative Analysts and Financial Engineers Association (TQF), on the topic “Quantitative Finance in the Age of Digital Innovation.” We are honored to have a panel of distinguished scholars, to evaluate the academic work including:

1. Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittawit Autchariyapanitkul (Faculty of Economics, Maejo University)
2. Assistant Professor Dr. Jidapa Kraisangka (Faculty of Informationand Communication Technologty, Mahidol University)
3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. S.P. Gayathri (Gandhigram Rural Institute, India)

The conference aimed to provide graduate students with an opportunity to disseminate their research findings, exchange academic knowledge, enhance their confidence in research presentations, and establish international academic networks.

The event featured oral research presentations by 18 graduate students. The Outstanding Research Presentation Awards were presented to:

• Ms. Pattera Pengpit, a doctoral student, for her research Digital Connectivity and Financial Inclusion in Thailand: Divergent Effects across Access, Usage, and Quality. Advisor is Asst. Prof. Dr. Somsak Chanaim
• Ms. Yan Zhen, a doctoral student, for her research entitled From Algorithmic Visibility to City Authenticity: Exploring Chinese Digital Nomads' Perceptions in Platform Environments. Advisor isAsst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak
• Mr. Hanyan Li, a doctoral student, for his research entitled The Impact of the China–Laos Railway on Digital Trade and Financial Integration under the Belt and Road Initiative: Evidence from Southwest China. Advisor is Dr. Siva Shankar Ramasamy

DIFT 2026-2 reflects ICDI’s continued commitment to preparing graduate students for the future while fostering international academic exchange and advancing knowledge in digital innovation and financial technology.
