The Mental Health Program at MIdS CMU Hosts “Thai Speech Contest 2026” to Promote the Thai Language, Culture, and Mental Well-being

On Saturday, 12 September 2026, the Mental Health Program of the Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary School (MIdS), Chiang Mai University, organized the “Thai Speech Contest for Foreigners Residing in Thailand” under the “Heart, Harmony & Healing Minds (Triple H)” project. The event, held under the theme “Promoting the Noble Way of Sufficiency Living and Mental Health,” took place at Building 2, MIdS CMU.

Professor Dr. Apichat Sopadang, Dean of MIdS CMU, presided over the opening ceremony, while Professor Nahathai Wongpakaran, M.D., Chair of the Mental Health Program, delivered remarks outlining the event’s objectives. The activity aimed to highlight the importance of the Thai language and culture as factors contributing to the mental well-being of foreign residents in Thailand. It also provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their Thai-language proficiency, critical-thinking skills, and understanding of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

The event featured a diverse range of activities, including a Thai-language speech contest, inspirational and educational sessions delivered by guest speakers, informative booths, karaoke singing, and opportunities to enjoy lunch and traditional Thai desserts. Participants were also invited to experience the charm of Thai culture by wearing traditional Thai attire, with outfits available to borrow for photo sessions.

Through these activities, the event fostered a welcoming atmosphere of friendship, learning, and meaningful intercultural exchange among participants from diverse cultural backgrounds.
