ECON CMU Strengthens Fire Prevention and Earthquake Preparedness to Enhance Organisational Safety

On Wednesday, 2 September 2026, from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organised a practical training workshop on “Fire Prevention and Suppression and Earthquake Preparedness 2026”, led by fire prevention officers from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, Chiang Mai Municipality.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the knowledge, understanding, practical skills, and safety awareness of the Faculty’s staff, personnel, and students, enabling them to prevent, prepare for, and respond appropriately to emergencies that may affect lives, property, and the continuity of the Faculty’s operations.

The training focused on essential practical skills, including the use of basic fire-fighting equipment, initial fire suppression, appropriate actions during emergencies, and safe evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or earthquake. These skills are intended to help participants respond systematically, minimise panic, and reduce risks to both people and property.

The initiative also contributes to the Faculty’s continued development of occupational safety, health, and workplace environment management, ensuring effective practices in accordance with relevant laws and standards while fostering a strong culture of prevention, preparedness, and safety throughout the Faculty.
