Faculty of Mass Communication wins 4 at JTA's Phirap Noi Awards 2020

Since 1993, the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) has hosted the Phirap Noi (‘Young Journalist’) Awards for Student Newspaper, Student News, and Outstanding Environment News, and the Rita Patiyasewee Award for News Documentary. The objective is to foster skills in newspaper production and news reporting among students majoring in communication arts and journalism. In 2020, the six participating universities were Chiang Mai University, Panyapiwat Institute of Management, Phuket Rajabhat University, Thammasat University, Mahasarakham University, and Bangkok University.
The ceremony was held on February 28, 2021, in the Isara Amantakul Room, on the third floor of the Thai Journalists Association building. Ang Kaew newspaper and Ang Kaew Plus magazine, produced by students of the Faculty of Mass Communication with the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Narin Numcharoen, Ph.D., and Assistant Prof. Pisit Sreeprasert won 4 awards, as follows.
1) Phirap Noi Award for ‘Outstanding’ Student Magazine was awarded to Ang Kaew Plus magazine “MOVE”, Issue 19, October 2020, out of 3 candidates from 3 universities, with 10,000 THB in prize money and an honorary plaque.
2) Phirap Noi Award for ‘Outstanding’ Student News Documentary and Environment News was awarded to the article ‘Life’ from Ang Kaew newspaper, out of 5 candidates from 3 universities, with 10,000 THB in prize money and an honorary plaque.
3) Phirap Noi Award for ‘Outstanding’ Student Editor was awarded to Ang Kaew newspaper, Issue 1, Year 45, September 15 – October 8, 2020, out of 2 candidates from 2 universities, with 7,500 THB in prize money and an honorary plaque.
4) Phirap Noi Award for Student Newspaper, Honourable Mention was awarded to Ang Kaew newspaper, out of 2 candidates from 2 universities, with 7,500 THB in prize money and an honorary plaque.
Mr. Banyong Suwannapong, a member of the ethics committee of the TJA, Mr. Mongkol Bangprapa, President of the TJA, and Ms. Pimolpan Siriwongwan-ngam, True Corp’s Head of Public Relations, presented the awards to the representative students of the Faculty of Mass Communication, namely Ms. Sutheemon Khamkhum, Ms. Phannika Chansaeng, Ms. Rattanakon Huawiang, and Ms. Phimphaka Supraditsakun.
