The First World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC)

Dr. Ekkachai Mahaek, Vice President, Chiang Mai University, attended The First World Eco-Design Conference (WEDC) hosted by China Industrial Design Association (CIDA) during December 13 – 16, 2018 at Conghua Eco-Design Town, Guangzhou, P.R. China Themed with “Ecology of Design, Field of Hope-Joining hands to create a community of shared future for ecology”, the conference represents an international high-end platform with ecological design. It is committed to bringing together decision makers from circles as government, industry, university, research institute and finance exchanging views, establishing cooperation, promoting policy implementation and improvement, and getting deeply involved in global environmental governance. During the 1st WEDC, a number of activities were held, including the Opening Ceremony of WEDC, signing ceremonies of the Ecological Innovation Institute and Promotion Center for Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities, Awards Ceremony of TIA Eco-Design Award as well as ecological design exhibition. Meanwhile, WEDC members jointly released the ConghuaDeclaration to facilitate an inclusive and sustainable development of the world economy withinnovation in design and to jointly promote the well-being of mankind.
