Agro-CMU Researchers and CMH Life Science Celebrate National Innovation Award for "Ferona W"

Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University congratulates the Ferona W team on receiving the prestigious The Inventor Awards – Economic Impact at the 7 Innovation Awards 2026.

The Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University (CMU), proudly congratulates the Ferona W research and innovation team—a collaboration between Chiang Mai University and CMH Life Science Co., Ltd.—on winning The Inventor Awards in the Economic Impact category at the 7 Innovation Awards 2026, held under the theme "Thailand Synergy: Empowering Thai SMEs toward IDEs" at PIM Convention Hall, Panyapiwat Institute of Management.

The award-winning innovation was developed through a long-term collaboration led by Assistant Professor Dr. Akkasit Jongjareonrak, a principal researcher from the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, together with researchers from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, and their industrial partner, CMH Life Science Co., Ltd.

Eighteen Years of Research Collaboration Driving Commercial Innovation

The success of Ferona W represents the culmination of more than 18 years of continuous research and development, demonstrating the power of translating academic research into commercially successful innovations.

The project exemplifies the Triple Helix collaboration model, integrating scientific expertise in food science and medical research with the product development, manufacturing, and commercialization capabilities of the private sector. Throughout the research journey, the multidisciplinary team has continuously explored and refined innovative botanical extracts and advanced delivery technologies, ultimately creating Ferona W, a women's health supplement designed to promote well-being and balance while meeting the evolving needs of modern consumers.

Research Excellence Creating Economic Value

The The Inventor Awards – Economic Impact recognizes innovations that successfully generate tangible economic benefits through research commercialization. The achievement reflects not only the dedication of the research team but also the significant potential of Thai research to create high-value products, strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and support their transformation into Innovation-Driven Enterprises (IDEs) capable of sustainable growth in the global marketplace.

The award ceremony took place on 24 July 2026 during the Thailand Synergy: Empowering Thai SMEs toward IDEs initiative, now in its 13th year, bringing together leading public and private organizations to recognize outstanding innovations that contribute to Thailand's economic development and innovation ecosystem.

The Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr. Ekkasit Jongjareonrak, the entire Ferona W research team, researchers from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, and CMH Life Science Co., Ltd. on this remarkable national achievement, which highlights the strength of university-industry collaboration in transforming research excellence into innovations that create lasting economic and societal impact.
