ICDI CMU Invited to the 7th Western China Digital Economy Expo and Signs Cooperation Agreement with XUPT on AI, Digital Healthcare, and the Digital Economy

A delegation from the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University (ICDI CMU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen, Dean of the College, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, Program Chair of the Graduate Program in Digital Innovation and Financial Technology, and members of the College, was invited to participate in the 7th Western China Digital Economy Expo, held from 26–28 June 2026 at the Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center, People's Republic of China. The visit aimed to exchange knowledge on the digital economy, explore emerging digital technologies, and strengthen collaboration with Chinese government agencies, universities, research institutions, and industry partners.

The Expo featured technology exhibitions, conferences, and international networking activities covering artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, digital trade, data center development, cross-border data exchange, and international industrial cooperation. During the event, the ICDI CMU delegation also participated in academic exchange sessions, media interviews, and meetings with representatives from academia, government, research organizations, and industry to gain insights into China's rapidly evolving digital economy and explore future collaboration opportunities.

During the visit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rujira Ouncharoen signed an International Industry–University–Research Cooperation Agreement on AI-Empowered Healthcare and Wellness with Professor Chen Gaige, Vice Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Application and Design, Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT). The agreement covers joint research, academic and personnel exchange, talent development in artificial intelligence and digital healthcare, and the commercialization of research outcomes. It also aims to integrate academic expertise, technological innovation, and healthcare applications while strengthening collaboration between Thailand and China.

Participation in the Expo and the signing of this agreement mark another significant milestone for ICDI CMU in expanding its international partnerships. The collaboration will foster joint research, academic exchange, and innovation in artificial intelligence, digital healthcare, and the digital economy, while strengthening long-term cooperation among universities, research institutions, and industry partners in both countries.
