Chiang Mai University was honored to co-host The 56th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO2015) during July 4-16, 2015 held at Chiang Mai University, with as many as 1,500 persons from 100 countries attending.
The International Mathematical Olympiad is the foremost international mathematical competition for pre-university students with the objective for finding brilliant young mathematicians from various countries. It is held annually and is the oldest academic mathematical Olympiad in the world. The first competition was held in 1959 in The Republic of Socialist Romania where only 7 countries had participated in the competition.
For this years 56th International Mathematical Olympiad, Thailand co-hosts the competition to celebrate H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn 60th birthday on April 2, 2015, and is co-hosted by the

CMUs Associate Professor Dr. Sampan Singharajwarapan, Dean, Faculty of Science said that the Faculty of Science is the main office responsible in Chiang Mai University for the competition and has worked hard to prepare this event in order to warmly receive the competitors. This competition not only stimulates and creates an academic atmosphere, especially in mathematics, but it also supports the Thai youth to display their academic capacity while providing them inspiration to develop their potential.
