On 24, 25 and 27 January 2017, Chiang Mai University International College, in collaboration with Institute of Integrative Biology, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom organized a Professional Skills Workshop: Scientific Papers and Communication. The workshop and lectures were presented by Professor Steven W. Edwards, Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Institute of Integrative Biology, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and were held at the Meeting Room, Social Research Institute (SRI), Chiang Mai University, with participation of more than 60 students and faculty members from various faculties and college of Chiang Mai University. The workshop began on Tuesday, 24 January, with welcoming words by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panuwan Chantawannakul, Associate Dean for Research and International Relations. On the final day of the workshop, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopasit Chakpitak, Dean of Chiang Mai University International College presented certificates of attendance to the participants.
The objectives of the workshop were to focus on academic and professional skills which will be useful for students and faculty members for their present and future careers. This included the background knowledge and practical skills to enhance their writing of research proposals and academic writing for publication in international journals. The three-day workshop delivered different sessions on each day and consisted of nine sessions in which the participants actively participated and engaged, and also reviewed some of their own writing and communications.
