This conference will be an academic stage for more than 600 scholars both domestic and from around the world, to present their research publications in fields related to Thai Studies, promoting the academic community and fostering a network of scholars in Thai Studies.
Thai Studies focuses on history, background, the changing of economics, politics, society, languages and the culture of Thai people and the clusters of population who speak the Thai language/Tai. Most of the public who are interested in studying the Thai language are international scholars and are also interested in Thai society as a part of Southeast Asia. After this conference there will be an opening of curriculum in many universities while Thai scholars have been alerted to study tales from both local and national Thai society as they are encountering change all the time.
This conference was first held in 1980 and has been held every 3 years since, rotating to various universities in Thailand and in universities in other countries. Chiang Mai University hosted the 6th International Conference of Thai Study in 2006, as part of the 700th Anniversary celebration Chiang Mai City.
Chiang Mai University is honored to host this 13th Thai Study International Conference, supporting its aims to be a Research University at an international excellence level while elevating pedagogy.
