The CMU Art Museum
Opened in 1998, our Art Museum itself a fine example of modern Thai architecture provides a variety of display areas for professionally-curated exhibitions. In a varied program, the Art Museum offers exhibitions by renowned contemporary Thai artists, artworks from major international collections, and screenings of foreign films.
This museum is the main regional art museum in the north of Thailand. In addition to providing a venue for rotating contemporary art exhibitions by CMU art students and local, national and international artists, it is an education centre, and a centre for the preservation of art and culture of Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand, formerly named the Kingdom of Lanna. The Museum also organizes an annual international festival and publishes a two-monthly art magazine.
Chiang Mai University Archives (the Pin Mala Art Hall):
Located opposite to the Central Library, the Hor Phra Wat Ma Ha Wittayalai Chiang Mai (The Pin Mala Art Hall) displays photographs and artifacts that trace a chronological timeline of the history of Chiang Mai University from 1960, up to the present day. Exhibits include all of the most notable events in CMUs history, plus staff achievements, and a Hall of Fame depicting all the former presidents.
